About the Founder
The founder of Catiouche is Lana Berglas. Born in Siberia, Russia, into an artistic family, Lana developed a passion for fashion at an early age. After getting a degree in fashion in her hometown Irkutsk, she worked as a successful model on the catwalk, in numerous commercials and print ads.
She emigrated to the US in 1997 and settled in Los Angeles. Although she continued her modeling, her main focus was fashion design and she enrolled into the world renowned Fashion college, OTTIS. During this time she met her future husband Richard Raynesford, an actor of “ Days of our Lives” (NBC) fame. They decided to move to his native London and soon got married.
In 2001, their daughter Katerina was born. Lana continued her studies at the prestigious Saint Martins College of Art and Fashion all the while doing a part -time stint at the Hardy Amies fashion house (appointed to the British Royal family) as a designerʼs assistant. But Katerina, her daughter, proved to be Lanaʼs main inspiration and the catalyst for her to embark onto her new career and adventure as a fashion designer for children. Katiousha is another version of the name Katerina in Russian, and so the new label Catiouche came to life.
It is certainly not surprising that Lana’s designs reflect a multi-cultural influence and the process of their creation provided her with the perfect opportunity to combine her strong beliefs in the eco-friendly movement with her love for the timeless and the classic.
